Dr. David Conen

Dr. David Conen, MD, MPH, is an Associate Professor, Medicine, at McMaster University and a clinical cardiologist. He is the Cardiology Clinical Site Lead at the Juravinski Hospital and Scientist at the Population Health Research Institute, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Conen obtained his Master of Public Health degree from Harvard University in Boston, USA, and completed a 2-year postdoc research fellowship in clinical epidemiology. Dr. Conen is the Principal Investigator of two large multinational clinical trials to prevent and treat perioperative atrial fibrillation (COP-AF and ASPIRE-AF) and is involved in the leadership of many international cardiovascular and perioperative trials. His research activities also involve the conduct of large epidemiological cohort studies examining risk factors for the occurrence and consequences of atrial fibrillation. He has published more than 250 manuscripts in peer-reviewed scientific journals and has received several prestigious grants and awards in Switzerland and Canada. He has extensive knowledge in the design, development, management, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of clinical trials and large-scale epidemiology studies.
