Dr. Sandra Ofori, MBBS, MSc, PhD, is an Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine, McMaster University, general cardiologist and perioperative medicine specialist at Hamilton Health Sciences, and Investigator, Population Health Research Institute, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. She obtained her MBBS from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Following her training in internal medicine and cardiology at the University of Port Harcourt, she earned a Master of Science in Preventive Cardiology from Imperial College, London, UK. She then completed a fellowship in Perioperative Medicine and a PhD in Health Research Methodology (Clinical Epidemiology), at McMaster University. Her research is primarily focused on the optimization of long-term health and outcomes after non-cardiac surgery, with a focus on smoking cessation and post-discharge virtual care with remote automated monitoring. She has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications including PVCRAM-1 trial in the British Medical Journal (BMJ), POISE-3 trial in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), COP-AF trial in the Lancet, among others, and has been awarded competitive grants to advance her research.
