Dr. Shrikant Bangdiwala

Dr. Shrikant Bangdiwala, PhD, is a Professor in Department of Health Research, Methods, Evidence, and Impact in the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University, and a biostatistician and Director of Statistics at the Population Health Research Institute, Hamilton, ON, Canada. He is Professor Emeritus of the Department of Biostatistics of the Gillings School of Global Public Health, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC, USA. He has extensive experience in design and analysis of randomized controlled experimental studies; in multilevel analysis; and in the analysis of prospective longitudinal cohorts. He has been chief/senior statistician for numerous clinical research studies, and currently is PI of the TRAQ study (developing artificial intelligence methodology for detecting data anomalies in multicenter studies) and the SWIFT-BRAVE study (evaluating a qualitative research intervention for enhancing recruitment in the BRAVE trail using a novel stepped wedge design). He is internationally recognized for his teaching skills, having been designated Fulbright Senior Specialist in Global Public Health, and for having conducted over 250 short courses on research methodology worldwide. He is currently co-chair of the Training Committee of the Accelerating Clinical Trials (ACT) Consortium, funded by the Canadian Institute for Health Research, to prepare the country for rapid deployment of trials when necessary. He is Professor Extraordinarious of UNISA’s Institute for Social and Health Sciences and adjunct faculty at Universidad de Chile (Santiago) and Indian Institute of Technology (Delhi).
